Homemade Himbasha Bread:
super easy
Ingredients:
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon instant yeast
- 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Orange Zest (Optional)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 cup warm water
Instructions:
1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, salt, baking powder and sugar. Mix well to combine.
2. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and add the vegetable oil and warm water.
3. Mix the wet and dry ingredients together until a shaggy dough forms.
4. Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 10-15 minutes, until the dough becomes smooth and elastic.
5. Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover it with a clean kitchen towel. Let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
6. Preheat your oven to 365°F (190°C).
7. Punch down the risen dough to remove any air pockets. Divide the dough into two equal portions.
8. Shape each portion into a round loaf, about 8 inches in diameter. Place the loaves on a greased baking sheet, leaving enough space between them.
9. Cover the loaves with a kitchen towel and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
10. Bake the hambasha in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until they turn golden brown and sound hollow when tapped on the bottom.
11. Remove the hambasha from the oven and let them cool before serving.
Side note: Enhance the color of the crust by incorporating butter or egg yolks into the top layer of the code.
